The Book Fair is loaded with interesting new and used items- books, magazines, videos, CD's, DVD's, audiotapes and even art prints! Items come in daily and range from current best sellers to rare and unusual books.
The Book Fair has the usual subjects but also by special displays that include Best Sellers, Author of the Month, Science Fiction, and Mysteries. A Collector's Shelf contains first editions, rare or unusual books and signed copies. On occasion, unique collections are available. Recent ones have included comic books, military history, the occult, and feminism.
The "Picker's Collection" is an eclectic assortment of items from artwork to jewelry, baskets to glassware, and small statuary to puppets. You might find your very next treasure there. The "Picker's room" is found next to the Friends First Friday Special Collections Fair.
The Book Fair at Main is located on the second floor, to the left of the circulation desk and is open during library hours.
On the first Friday of every month a special event is held at Main from 11:00am -3:00pm. Featuring the pick of that month's donations, there are books on a wide range of subjects, all in great condition and always at bargain prices. From children's books to literary criticism, there's something for everyone.

The Book Fair is operated entirely by volunteers and all proceeds go the support the Main and Fort Lauderdale libraries.
Donations of books, videos, CD's, etc. are always appreciated and are tax deductible. They may be brought to the Book Fair at any time or to the loading dock, depending on the quantity. See the Donations

Book Fair Donations Wanted
Are books, videos, CD's or DVD's piling up in your home?
Please consider donating them to the Friends' Book Fair at the Main library.
All proceeds go directly to the Main and Ft. Lauderdale libraries for programming and resources. And your donations give the community access to great books at bargain prices. Everyone benefits!
We gratefully accept the following items in good condition:
- CD's and DVD's
- Hardbound or paperback books
We especially welcome: art, history, cooking, gardening, children's, computers, health, foreign language, best sellers and collectibles, as well as recent publications and unusual topics.
We cannot accept:
Donations are tax deductible.
- Encyclopedias older than 5 years
- Law books of cases, statutes or regulations
- Textbooks older than 5 years
- Items that are broken, mildewed or in poor condition
Donors should box the materials, mark them for Friends and bring them to the Book Fair at the Main library or to the loading dock at 100 S. Andrews Ave. If donor name and address are included, a tax exempt donation form will be forwarded.
